State Licence:
All recreational fishermen between 18 and
65 years of age have to buy a state licence and have to keep it on them while fishing. The only exception from this being fishing from trout lakes/Put & Take waters. The state licence allows you to fish with a fishing rod and line. However, it is NOT permitted to use nets, traps or other stationary tools.
A state licence is mandatory and costs DKK 100.00 for a full year, DKK 75.00 for one week and DKK 25.00 for one day. It is for sale at all post offices during normal office hours, most tourist offices and tackle shops and at some camp grounds.
75% of the profit from the sale of state licences are spend on releases of fish in salt and fresh waters. The fish are planted out according to detailed schemes based on population analysis, estimations of biologic capacity, worked out by national and local biologists. The remaining 25% are used for research on the subject.
Day Tickets
Almost all fresh waters in Denmark are privately owned. In addition to the mandatory state licence you will have to buy a day ticket sold by the owner of the water permitting you to fish in the river/lake in question. If you do not possess a valid day ticket, you may be fined or get your gear confiscated. Day tickets are for sale at the local tourist offices, tackle shops and overnight accommodations. The price vary from DKK 35.00 to DKK 250.00 per day.
